Your email stays private.

Die With Me is made by Sprout Technologies. When you share your email on an invitation page, we store that address, the invitation’s public inviter name, the time you submitted it, and its email-preference record.

We use these details to understand interest in the community. An email address is required to download the app from our website. Providing it does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

Your email is stored in a private database on our Google Cloud server. It is never shown on rankings, in chat, in share cards, or to your inviter. We do not send your email address to Google Analytics or use it in AI chat prompts.

Email invitations

If you request an invitation on a campaign page, we send your email address and a private invitation/download link to our configured email delivery provider. This request does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

We store your email, invitation, campaign, selected school when supplied, request time and submission status to provide your download link, limit repeated requests and attribute activation to the campaign. Private download links are valid for 30 days; the invitation association stored by our service does not expire. Keep the email private. Delivery records are retained for support and duplicate prevention; they are not automatically deleted after the link expires.

When you click Download, we try to copy a Die With Me handoff link to the clipboard. It contains a random download token and, when you arrived through an invitation, that invitation code. The token lets the Mac app privately associate the email entered on this browser after you create your profile; it expires after seven days and can bind to only one member. The app recognizes only trusted Die With Me join links. Other clipboard content is ignored and is not uploaded. There is no invitation code or email to enter again.

Text message invitations

If you request an invitation by text on a campaign page, you enter a US mobile number and tap the button under the consent notice. We then send one text message with your private invitation link and invite code through our SMS delivery provider (Twilio). You receive 1 message per request; you may request a resend, and we limit resends to 3 per day. No recurring or promotional text messages are sent, and requesting a text does not subscribe you to any messaging program.

Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of further texts and HELP for help. Opting out stops any later resend; it does not affect your app profile or friendships.

We do not share, sell or rent your mobile number to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used only to deliver the requested text. Our SMS delivery provider receives the number and message body to deliver it. We store a keyed hash of your number, the campaign, invitation, request time and delivery status to limit repeated requests and attribute activation; the raw number is not stored in our database or in your browser after the request. These records are retained for support and duplicate prevention.

Advertising measurement

On campaign pages, when you allow advertising measurement, a successfully accepted email invitation request creates a separate Meta event identified by that campaign. It measures the request, not inbox delivery, a download or installation. We share the campaign identifier, ad click details when available, browser information and a SHA-256 hash of your email. Your internal invitation token and private download link are never included. Declining measurement does not prevent requesting an invitation.

When advertising measurement is enabled, we share a download-start event with Meta after our server successfully begins sending the installer to your browser. A button click, failed request or maintenance response is not a conversion. This does not confirm a completed download or installation.

We use your ad click identifier (when present), browser information and a SHA-256 hash of your normalized email to help Meta match the event to an ad. A hashed email is still personal data. We do not share your invitation, chat messages, friends, account credentials or AI usage with Meta. Google Analytics and Meta share one website measurement choice. This choice does not subscribe you to email updates. Google Analytics measures public homepage and download-page visits, download and Windows waitlist button clicks, and whether a valid email field is completed and a download form is submitted. It does not receive your email address, private page URLs or invitation details. During the current website test, the shared measurement prompt is hidden and website measurement is enabled by default. If the prompt is restored, a default-on test choice will not be treated as an explicit choice. Earlier refusals remain respected. We honor browser Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals.

Your measurement choice is stored for 90 days and ad click details for up to 7 days. Pending event details expire after 24 hours and are removed during scheduled cleanup. Successful delivery records retain only a status, which expires after 7 days. When the combined measurement prompt is enabled, Privacy preferences on the homepage and download page let you refuse or withdraw. Withdrawal stops new collection and cancels queued events once our server receives it; it cannot undo events already sent or in flight. Offline withdrawal is retried when the page is open and reconnects. Clearing browser storage removes the saved withdrawal link; contact the developer for help. Downloads remain available when you refuse measurement.

With your permission, Google Analytics and Google Ads receive download-start and new-registration events using the browser’s Analytics client and session identifiers and advertising click or campaign parameters. When you open the Mac app using the download page’s handoff link, a new registration can be associated with that browser visit. Registration measurement also requires the app’s analytics permission. We retain the attribution link for at most 48 hours after the web visit; late registrations and existing members are not counted as new registrations. Google Ads receives neither your email address nor your internal member identifier. Ad personalization is disabled. Refusing measurement does not prevent downloading or registration.

Email preferences

The preferences link shown after you submit your email lets you unsubscribe. This browser also remembers that link. Manage email preferences. Unsubscribing does not remove your app profile or friendships.

Submitting an address does not verify that you own it. We have not enabled mailing campaigns or confirmation emails. Addresses remain marked unverified, and ownership verification will be required before mailing campaigns are enabled.

Your usage & account

The Mac app reads allowance information from your existing Claude Code or Codex sign-in. Provider credentials stay on your Mac. Your usage visibility setting controls what other members can see; email details are private regardless of that setting.

Chat and voice drafts

Member messages in the chatroom and lounge are kept and remain visible to members; there is no automatic expiry. Voice input sends your recording to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to create an editable draft. Die With Me does not save the recording or send it to other members. You choose when to send the resulting text. Cancelling before transcription discards the recording; cancelling after transcription starts stops the interface from using the result but cannot undo processing already sent to Google.

When you choose Translate, the message text is sent to Google Cloud Translation. The original message stays unchanged.
